As he shared in his recent letter to the congregation, Pastor Brian has announced his retirement effective later this year. We are saddened by Pastor Brian’s announcement, yet grateful for all the good work he has accomplished at TFRC over the last three decades.
This next season will be a significant time of transition for TFRC, and the consistory already has a plan in place to find a new lead pastor.
The consistory will soon begin forming a search committee. This search committee will first develop a profile of TFRC to help potential candidates understand the qualities we are looking for in a new lead pastor. The search committee will then begin a nationwide search for pastoral candidates within our own denomination, the Reformed Church in America. After a thorough interviewing and vetting of the candidates, the search committee will submit their preferred candidate to the consistory. At that point the consistory will seek approval of the candidate by the congregation.
The consistory will keep you updated on the progress of the search process. The goal is to have our next lead pastor in place by late 2018 or early 2019.
We are doing exciting ministry here at TFRC. We have been blessed with incredible staff and volunteers, who will continue to work hard through the transition. It is important that we as a church body continue to pursue our vision of being a vibrant community passionately modeling the life of Jesus Christ throughout the Magic Valley, especially in the midst of our pastoral transition.
Please keep TFRC in your prayers as we proceed through this transition time. Pray for Pastor Brian and Lori as they begin a new phase in their lives. Pray for the staff and volunteers who are so vital to our ministries. Pray for the consistory as they develop a pastoral search team. Pray for the search team as they seek candidates for lead pastor.
We are confident that God in His wisdom has a firm plan and purpose for the future of TFRC. We put our trust in Him as we navigate this transition and look forward to a bright and vibrant future.
