Refugee Ministry
“Do not mistreat or oppress a foreigner, for you were foreigners in Egypt.” ~ Exodus 22:21
TFRC is partnering with our local CSI Refugee Center and supporting them with any assistance that is needed for refugees in our community. Sometimes it is setting up a new home prior to refugees coming to the Magic Valley. Other times it is donating financially for household items like cleaning supplies, towels, kitchen wares, lamps, chairs, tables, sofas, or other furniture.
Our US government decided to assist our Afghan allies through the refugee program in 2021. They like many refugees, had to leave everything behind when they came to the US. We are hoping to be the hands and feet of Jesus to help people that have lost everything. Let each of us be reminded about two stories in the Bible; one is the Samaritan helping the person that had been taken advantage of by the robber and second how God commanded us to treat the foreigner.
Back to School Blessing
TFRC started a new mission in 2021 by adopting Perrine Elementary School throughout the school year. All teachers are required to provide supplies for their rooms out of their own pocket and often provide supplies to children that are unable to afford school supplies. We wanted to bless the teachers with classroom supplies and some extra school supplies for during the year. Items can be dropped off every Sunday in the Octagon.
We are committed to praying for the teachers, support staff, and students, and at the start of each year we will go to the school campus and pray for them and for the safety of the school for the next year. This will allow members at TFRC to show the importance of education to us, as people of faith. Thank you for supporting one of our local schools, Perrine Elementary School!
“Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning” ~ Proverbs 9:9
Grow Hope
Grow Hope’s primary goal is to bless the Twin Falls refugee community with a place to grow quality organic produce for their families’ nutritional needs. We allow local refugee families to plant in the land behind the church property. This program blesses the families who are often from low income homes. Moreover, the refugee families have the ability to plant produce from their countries of origin that they would not be able to find in grocery stores around town. Through this service, we aim to demonstrate the love of Jesus as we “feed those we see who are hungry” and in doing so also serve Jesus (paraphrase Mathew 25:37-40).
Grow Hope’s secondary goal is to bring awareness to the TFRC community of the refugee members of our Twin Falls community and in turn, encourage volunteering and support for them. For more info call Kristy 208-733-6128 ext 109.
